Lingua Arabica est omnium quotquot extant longe copiosissima; infinita fere sunt ejus vocabula, quae quoque multiplices obtinent significationes: Tredecim habet conjugationes quae diversam plerumque significationem habent: Ejus Anomaliae sunt paucissime; nam in Grammatica Arabica plurimi canones occurrunt, quibus nulla est exceptio. Idcirco licet a nonnullis propter immensam verborum copiam omnium Linguarum habeatur difficillima, nihilominus quod Grammaticas Regulas attinet, omnium (excepta forsan Persica) facillima est et simplicissima (Ockleii Introduct.ad lingu.orient. pag. 129, 130).
Арабский язык самый обильный из всех существующих языков. В нем почти бесконечное число слов, которые к тому же имеют много значений. У него 13 спряжений, имеющих в большинстве случаев различное значение. Отклонений от правил очень мало. Ибо в арабской грамматике есть множество правил без всяких исключений. Поэтому хотя некоторые почитают его самым трудным из всех языков вследствие огромного обилия слов, тем не менее, в отношении грамматических правил он из всех языков самый легкий и простой (если не считать, пожалуй, персидского).
